Data Deletion Instructions
How to delete your data from The Education Tree
In compliance with Meta Platform policies, users can request the deletion of their account and all associated data collected through The Education Tree. You may delete your data in either of the following ways:
1. Delete Data Through Your Account (Preferred Method)
If your account has an in-app delete option:
- Log in to your The Education Tree account
- Go to Settings (Profile → Privacy & Security)
- Select Deactivate Account
- Confirm the deletion
Once confirmed:
- Your account will be permanently deleted
- All personal data will be removed from our systems
- Meta-linked permissions will be automatically revoked
- This process is irreversible
Deletion is completed within 48 hours, with full backup removal within 30 days.
2. Request Data Deletion Manually via Email
If you cannot delete your account within the app, email:
Use the subject line: "Data Deletion Request – [Your Name]"
Include:
- Your registered name
- Your registered email
- Your phone number
- Your Instagram username (if connected via Meta)
Once your request is received:
- Your identity will be verified
- Your account and associated data will be permanently deleted
- Meta-linked access tokens will be revoked
- Confirmation will be sent to you upon completion
Processing time: within 48 hours, complete removal in up to 30 days.
3. Revoking Instagram/Meta Permissions
You may also revoke our access to your Instagram account directly through Meta:
- Go to Instagram App → Settings → Apps and Websites
- Find The Education Tree
- Select Remove Access
This revokes all future data sharing instantly.
Please note: Revoking access does not delete your account on our Platform. You must still request account deletion through Method 1 or 2.
What Data Gets Deleted?
Upon deletion, we remove:
- Personal profile information
- Email, phone number
- Profile photo and descriptions
- City, college, educational details
- Preferences and personalisation data
- Linked Instagram/Meta insights
- Campaign submissions (unless contractually required for brand reporting already completed)
- Internship and opportunity applications
- UPI or bank details
- Login and session data
- Account activity history
What May Be Retained (Legally Required)
Certain information may be retained for:
- Fraud prevention
- Financial compliance and audit requirements
- Legal reporting obligations
- Past campaign reporting already submitted to brands
- Security reasons
Such data is retained only for the legally mandated duration.
